About VC Lampwork

The “VC” in VC Lampwork stands for me, Vangie Collins. I’ve been a lampwork glass artist for 14 years. My love affair with glass started in 2005 when I purchased my first lampwork glass bead. I was drawn to the bead’s beauty and uniqueness, but more importantly, I was inspired to learn the art of lampwork and explore my own creativity through working with glass.

A few years after I started designing and selling my own original glass bead designs, a customer asked me if I would make them a cremation bead as a memorial to their recently deceased dog. Coincidentally, I had lost my own beloved schnauzer, Rudy, a few years prior, and happened to have some of her ashes on hand. Using Rudy’s remains, I developed and perfected my own technique for incorporating ashes into my glass bead designs – and what an amazing experience that was! It was healing, comforting, and inspiring for me. I knew then that VC Lampwork would focus on making cremation beads for others, helping them to heal and find comfort after the loss of a loved one.

Making a cremation bead is a very personal process for me. So please, tell me a little about your special person or pet. There’s a place to do that when you place your order. If you are able to send a photo, please do so when you send me your ashes; I’ll return it when I send you your order.

The ability to do the glasswork I love, while simultaneously helping others deal with their grief, is a gift I truly cherish.
